What is your COVID-19 shop policy?

Your health is paramount to us. Although we have always worked to industry Health & Safety protocols and standards, we are taking all necessary additional steps to ensure your safety through the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to your face to face visit we will undertake a risk assessment where you will have to confirm that

  • You do not have any symptoms associated with COVID-19 (e.g. fever, cough, sore throat, shortness of breath, sneezing/runny nose or loss of sense of smell)
  • You do not have COVID-19 nor are you awaiting the results from being tested for COVID-19
  • You have not been in contact with any known or suspected cases of COVID-19 in the past 14 days
  • You have not returned, or been in contact with anyone else who has returned, from overseas in the past 14 days.
While on the premises, clients and staff must follow strict physical distancing rules, this may include controlled/restricted entry. With the exception of the eye exam consultation and frame/lens fitting procedures, minimum physical distancing is required. All visitors details will be logged, recorded and made available to the Ministry of Health upon request for contact tracing if required. Stringent sanitising procedures will need to be followed while on the premises. All visitors will be asked to use the hand sanitiser provided when arriving and departing. We have recently installed face shields on some of our close contact equipment and we will use personal protective equipment such as gloves and face masks whenever it is appropriate e.g. a staff member is to come within 1 metres of a client. Scheduled cleaning and disinfection procedures are in place in addition to our standard cleaning regime before and after each client. Clients are not allowed to self select frames from display areas. All frames will be sanitised after the dispensing process has been completed and before being returned to display/drawers. All equipment required during the consultation will be cleaned and sanitised before and after use. Some lens and frame fitting procedures require us to come closer than the required 1 meter physical distancing rule. we will keep these occurrences to an absolute minimum and we will use personal protection equipment such as gloves and face masks. Clients will be offered a face mask if they wish to wear one for these procedures. All towels and soaps have been replaced with recyclable paper hand towels and antibacterial hand foam with dispensing units, at each sink. We do not own a contact less payment terminal, so we encourage our clients to make payments through direct deposits via online banking.

Do you do eye exams there?

We are dispensing opticians and do not do eye exams ourselves. if you do need an eye test we have a consulting optometrist in store on one day a week (usually on a Friday). you can check available appointment times by clicking here. if that does not suit, we are happy to help you find a good optometrist.

Do you only sell frames?

No, we are registered dispensing opticians and can help you find your perfect pair of glasses, including frames and lenses!

Do you sell famous brands like ray ban, oakley etc.?

No, we pride ourselves to deal with small, family owned design and manufacturing companies who share our passion for beautifully designed and meticulously manufactured eye wear. we have no room for mass produced products.

What do you do during a typical frame and lens styling consultation?

We are glad you asked, because this is exactly why we do what we do - and we've been doing it for more than 40 years! Not always obvious, we follow a flexible procedure matching you with the perfect frame and the perfect lenses, because beautiful eye wear is not about flashing the side-stamped brand name on your frame. It is however about a personal statement, a physical enhancement and a representation of you, the wearer. A frame and lens styling consultation is a team effort. We need to get to know you and you will get to know us. Together we make sure that when you look in the mirror with your new glasses you can comfortably say "that's me, I feel great!" There are many aspects that make a perfect match. It takes time and it takes trust. You have to experience it. We promise you that it it will be an experience you'll remember for a long time.

Do you do insurance quotes?

Yes. if you have had an accident and want to make a claim with your insurance, we can provide you with a quotation for a "like-for-like replacement" of your lost or broken glasses. some insurances have their "preferred suppliers". these are usually the companies that give the insurances the biggest discount. you are not obliged to use those suppliers. you have the right to use "your" preferred supplier.

Do you do repairs?

If it's repairable, we'll repair it. We'll do our best!

Do you do frame appros?

No, we do not allow frames to be taken home for approval.
